power?

ok so i have an mj-18 and right now i have a crappy amp that says its 1600 watts but it is probably putting out around 7 or 800. well im thinking about getting a good ampp that will put out its rated power, and right now the sub isnt as loud as i would like it to be so im wondering just how much power these things can take and what would be a good amp that will power them to thier fullest so if you guys could help me out that would be great thanks

the mj-18 as in Mach5?? Factory specs are 600wrms so if anything your 'shitty' amp is giving it enough power. Maybe try a different box if you don't like the sound of the sub. It's cheaper than getting a new amp.
