power wiring help....

ive been buying my audio equipment piece by piece and now its time for the power wires... i have 2 T20001db and one t8004 i have two stinger SP1700 in the back and a yellow top optima in the front im going to order a powerbastards 220 amp alternator that is going to replace the a/c compressor thats going to run the system and the stock alternator is going to run the truck... now my question is what guage wire should i run from the alternator to the batterys in the back?? i guess im goin to use 0 guage from the batterys to the amplifiers but can someone help me out how to wire it up??? thanks for the help

I can't really tell you but i hav eboth 1/0 and 2/0 for sale when you decide ; )

1/0 on everything. Do your Big 3 in 1/0 and all your power wire and ground wires in 1/0.

With 2 RF 2000 watt amps, you'll need the bigger wire. I'd run 2 runs of power from front to back personally and ground the hell out of everything, and you should be fine.

Don't mean to keep pitchin' stuff in this thread but if you haven't purchased your alt yet (since you are asking about one i assume you haven't) I have an Ohio Generator 300A alt with external reg for sale. Put out over 150A at idle and closer to 350A max...

It's a larg case GM and will fit MANY different cars/trucks

I highly reccomend the Ohio Gen alts over the other brands. As for the wire, you just need to use wire that is rated for your load. So if you are going to have the potential to draw 300A over that run of wire, you should think of going bigger than a single run of 1/0 (since 1/0 is usually rated at 300A Max). If your wire is rated for 350A and you are pushing 300A, then that would be fine. It is all based on how much power you are going to push over that wire.

Also, don't forget to fuse all of your positive wires. Unless you like fire that is.

will one run of this wire b enough from the alternator fused to the batteries in the back?? and stinger 0 guage for the rest or should i run just 2 strands of 0 guage from the front to the back??
