Power Wire, Too Big Or Too Small?

How do you know that the power wire that you are using is too big or too small. Are there specific signs that happen or what?

for most applications 8 gauge wire works fine...for anything above 500 watts or more i recomend using either 4 gauge or larger

go here http://www.eatel.net/~amptech/elecdisc/caraudio.htm and look for the wire section. it will ask for lenght and how much power and it will tell ya what type of wire to get
