power tweets with head unit?

you sturrin at me brah?
i've only got a 2 channel amp for my components, which have the silk tweet. they're made by rainbow, so are similar to the slc's.

my crossovers have hookups for bi-amping, and my clarion deck's real tweaks are only usable if its set up for individual speakers. would it be reasonable to use a high end clarion deck to power my tweets and just use the amp for the mids? just run the spkr wires from the deck through the crossover?

I don't see any reason why not...

Will the 20 or so watts from your HU do those tweets justice? (I know very little about Rainbow gear....I'm aware tweets don't need huge power to play well but there are some out there that need more than 20 watts give or take to really shine and I'm not certain which variety yours are)

I wouldn't bother. Just using the 2-channel to power the amplifier through the passives would likely result in better overall performance than trying to bi-amp them through the passive using the deck's power.

normally thats what i'd have done, but in the diagram in the instructions, it shows 2 way mode as being front speakers and rear speakers, without a subwoofer. the 3 way mode shows a pair of midwoofers, pair of tweets, and substage, with no rear fill.

the normal mode im using now shows front, rears, and a sub, but doesnt have much adjustability on the deck.

so i should just go 2 way, and use my rear rcas on the sub? i have the sub set to through anyway, and just use the amps crossover.

I would stick with 2-way mode unless you are going completely active with external amplification.

Why would you need to use the rear RCA outputs for the subwoofer, if even in 2-way mode it has a dedicated subwoofer output?

dont know, havent tried, maybe i dont. but in the diagram it shows for 2 way, it only shows front and rear speakers, not substage. seems odd to me, since there are 3 pairs of rca outputs.

I second that. I would never recommend deck power over an external amp in ANY circumstance unless someone could NOT afford and external amp.
