power tools on amps

Step1- Take a HIGH power amp, something thats capable of 90+ volts AC on its outputs an feed it a 60hz tone.

Step2- connect + and - to power tools plug and have fun.

This puts alot of strain on your amp so I would not reccommend doing this every day.

A car amp works alot like a power inverter you would find at an autoparts store, it takes in DC voltage and converts it to AC just like an amplifier does, except a car amplifier has efficient variable switching capabilitys while the power inverter stays at a constant voltage and frequency.

It is concievable that you could use a large power inverter as an amp to do 60hz SPL burps on your subs, although tone generators are not allowed in competition so your score would not be legal.

This is an oversimplified explaination, use Google for more on DC and AC current.

I wouldn't do it on a regular basis at all...the amp doesn't provide a three-conductor single phase connection, only the hot and ground leads. If something shorts out on your saw, guess what suddenly becomes live with 90+ VAC //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

and remember, it itsn't volts that kills you, it's the amount of current flowing thru. it takes about 10amps, 1amp, 10 milliamps, 1 milliamp to kill(don't remember). not very much. you can have 1,000volts run through you and it won't kill you if it's only 1/4 milliamp.

but remember, volts and amps are related through Ohm's Law so therefore you would need to know the resistance of your innards (i've seen this number somewhere) and then you can figure out how much voltage will cause enough current to flow to kill you

awww... 90v ain't bad... try gettin hit with 220... lol
I got nailed by the main 480VAC feed into the house when it first was switched on...this being the electrical system that "passed" code inspection the week before. I woke up on the other side of the room, with no clear recollection how I got there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Bastages - turned out a staple in the window mounting frame had shorted a section of 12awg Romex, and the main panel bypassed the breakers (geniuses...true geniuses). Worst shock I ever got, and I'd prefer not to repeat that.

I worked on a friend's kW RF deck in his HF amplifier...that thing was fun, had something like 3200V modulating the plates of the tubes. I worked with a hand in my pocket and sweat on my face, wondering what would happen if I dropped a wrench in there...

so therefore you would need to know the resistance of your innards (i've seen this number somewhere)
It's really not that much - you're mostly water and electrolytes anyway, so you make a dandy conductor. I should see what I measure across my rings...never done that, but would be curious to see if I actually have a conducting path there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

yep, i remember it being less than a couple ohms

that's why if you break the surface of your skin in your hands (skin isnt very conductive) and then put a regular 1.5V battery across, it can kill you

For our health screening at work every year they measure our resistence as a way to determine our body fat. Last time I was checked, I was around 563ohm IIRC //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
