Tonight I helped a friend install some subs in his car. I had just finished setting the gain on his amp, an Audiobahn A8002V and I hooked up the speaker wires. I was in a hurry, it was late (around 1:15 AM) and I wasn't thinking straight. I left his car running and when I reached down to pick the speaker box up, the wires touched a metal part on the car and as soon as I saw the spark, I grabbed the wires and moved them. The amp seemed fine after that, the power light was still on and the protect light was off. I turned off the car, connected the speaker wires to the box, started the car back and now the subs just keep making this popping noise and the power LED on the amp is blinking and the protect light is lit. If you disconnect the speaker wires from the amp, it's fine, no protect light and the amp's power LED stays on constant, just like it's supposed to. I glanced in the manual to see if it said anything about it, but I couldn't find anything about the light flashing. The only thing I found said to check for a short circuit in the speaker wires, but I just glaned through it. We just decided to stop for tonight and continue tomorrow.
Did those wires sparking blow the amp or is there something else wrong? I'm thinking the amp is blown, but since it powers up I wasn't sure. I just want to get some opinions before I go out and buy him another amp tomorrow, since it's my **** up. Thanks.
