Power issue

So I hooked my 10001D audiopipe amp up the other day and it acted like it wasn't getting enough power, it ran for about 10 minutes and started going into protection mode and eventually turned itself off. I'm running 0 gauge wire which I had to shave off quite a bit to fit it in the terminals. Could that be the issue?

I don't have a fuse on it either, didn't think I'd need it since the amp is 1000 watts rms and the wire can handle 3000+. Thoughts?

Wouldn't be an alternator issue because no lights were blinking or anything.

Well first good ofc 0 gauge carries 300amps not 3000 watts ...it should still be fused @100a on that amp....and secondly that amp is garbage pail dirty power ..start over lol

Was it hot? What are your subs wired to? Was the car running or on battery? Do you know where your voltage was, measured at the amp?

No it wasn't hot, subs are wired to 1 ohm, car was running, I do not know.

Always fuse your power wire.

Check your voltage. Battery been checked lately?

CVR 10" dvc, all positives wired together and same for negatives, paralleled twice= 1 ohm. I'll fuse the amp, but isn't that really for protection? Or can that cause this by not being there?

sounds like you have a wiring issue..a ground, a remote, maybe a single loose strand of one speaker wire touching another, or a single strand of power/ground/remote wire touching something it should not.

and ALWAYS fuse within a few inches of the battery, you can burn your car to the ground if that wire grounds out somewhere under carpet or passing through the firewall, or any thing. And if the amp malfunctions, it will blow the fuse and not catch on fire.

4ohm or 2ohm DVC? The amp isn't fused now? Should do that before anything else. It shouldn't cause this, but if you short something out, it can cause your car to burn to the ground. Is your ground good? Get a DMM and check voltage at the amp.
