Power Isolation Relay???

Anyone know anything about this: From Autosound 2000- ISOLATING RELAY

The N-52R is a 12 volt relay that is completely isolated from the vehicle. The input resistance is over 1000 ohms so the on current is less than 15 mA. The Normally Open contacts of the secondary relay are rated for 20 amps. Connect +12 volts DC to the trigger input, and 12 volts, at 20 amps will be at the output.

Is there any other relay that won't cost me $20 that will do the same thing because the power supply for my XM Radio is noisy as hell. Disconnect the DC adapter and the noise goes away.

Considering that relay has to get its power from your vehicle's battery I do not see how it's completely isolated from the vehicle but whatever...

Just get an average, everyday SPST 30a relay from AutoZone, Radio Shack, etc and call it a day. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Though I'm not so certain as to exactly how you'd go about using a relay to provide power to your XM...

Now that I think about it I think you're right. The supply is probably the noisy part but the issue is that it converts the 12v to 5v. I would need to find a way to filter the output. Would wiring a small cap either in series, parallel, or both help?
