power inverters

never used one, other than the small ones that plug into the lighter. useless. can a person run a shopvac on one? maybe power tools? seems like a pretty large draw, even for the larger inverters.

you can pretty much run whatever you want off them as long as their rating matches up with what your trying to push. the one i am trying to sell is a 500w continuous and 1000w peak power, and i ran that off a stock electrical sytem for 2 months and i never had any problems with it getting hungry for power or voltage drops or nothin.

i'm not so much worried about my vehicle's electric. i'll have it on a second battery and have a h.o. alt. i just don't want one if i can't run what i want. the one i have in my work truck in the cigarette lighter won't even run a dewalt battery charger.

You will be better off getting one that hard wires directly to your batteries. You can run just about anything as long as the watts add up as already stated.

yeah probobly not, but hey if you get kicked out of your house and need to wash them, go for it. and you would usually go by your continuous power, unless you plan on using something in spurts, but doubtful

i have a camper shell on my truck. i'll probably run a very small space heater when in the mountains. maybe a small fan in the summer. i was trying to divert one of the heater/air conditioning vents, but found out how much work it is and the possibility of really f'ing things up.

Check the wattage on that space heater, they draw a lot of power. Those little space heaters are always tripping breakers in office buildings durring the winter when the ladies have them on under their desks.

yeah i agree with you there. i was working in my garage during the winter, and while waiting for my salamander to get keroseen, i turned on a space heater and blew a break not 2 minutes afterwards

max power does actually help on power inverters.. my cargo trailer has a a/c on it and its 700 watts... i have a 800 watt 1600 peak inverter.. but on the a/c start up its about 1500 watts for a couple secounds.. then it goes back down to 700... heaters and fluorescent lights and some other things need more power for start up sometimes double of there actual wattage rating just for a few seconds.
