can the head unit cause alternator whine. Also I can hear the cd player starting up and everything. Rca are away from power by 2 feet. Speaker wire is about 6in away from power except where it meets amp. I have tried grounding the speakers and its a new amp. Rca are insulated and shielded. plus Ive tried using the ground loop isolator and it just makes it worse... need help badly

ive searched and ive checked my grounds bare frame 8in in length for each ground... My sub is fine and my speakers are whining. Those are off of a brand new amp. The tweeters off the head unit are not whining. If I disconnect those will it go away? Also unplugged rca's from head unit and still noise, from the eq and no noise until the inputs were plugged it and finally just pulgged rcas into amp and nothing on the other end and still noise. CAn it be amp but its brand new or could it be the speakers in the doors.

If any rca is plugged into the amp and i touch the middle of the rca it makes the noise louder. If the rca's go straight from head unit to amp still noise. What can I try to do to cure this. If I go straight from head unit to amp I believe there is still noise but I'm gonna wait until the morning and light to try to figure out whats going on. When I first installed the amp and had the truck on battery only there was no noise..... When I tuned the amp and started the truck the whine stated.

search for engine noise then check for the thread where it tells you how to fix it... you take a wire...wrap it around the rcas in the back of your head unit...then take the other end of the wire and ground it to your head unit via screwing it under an existing screw...problem fixed

/thread

Ive tried that and it didnt work at all it just made the noise louder.
then yyou did it wrong lol...you sure you grounded it to the back of the head unit? you cannot ground it to your car only to the back of the head unit

^^^Grounding the RCA shields doesn't fix every problem. It fixes a specific problem that plagues Pioneer HUs.

Bypass the EQ and run RCAs straight to the amps. If the noise is gone the EQ is the problem. It might be bad. If the noise is still there, try new RCAs to rule out damaged cables. Just use a cheap set to see if they're the problem before replacing whatever you already have.

tis true but more than 90% of the time thats the problem... try what he said^^^

Well I rechecked my rca grounding and they were fine and done right just like the picture. I unplugged my eq and the noise went completely away and when I replugged it there was a little noise until I messed with the ground in the eq and it was broken. Resodered and now still a little noise but its hard to tell with the windows down and engine running. Im thinking of getting a different head unit. Something better than soundstream
