power hx2 + sealled = help

ok i built a sealled box for my 15 in. power hx2, at around 1.3 cub, which RF website says 1.25 for it. Well anyways im powering it with an viper 1200. Heres my problem. I can only get about 800 w max out of the amp before the sub hits xmax( the high pitched slap sound) but it only happens on higher pitched notes, the box is completely sealled, but hits hard off that on the low notes but with jsut like the 800w the upper notes(like 50ish to 70 hz) it does that high pitched hiting sound. My guess is this sub was made to truelly perform in a ported box and i should get around to building it, or is there actually something wrong that im not thinking of?

I also had a slapping noise coming from my 10" power hx2. The subwoofer would reach full excursion almost immediately, with extremely low gain, very low boost, and volume on the stereo. I tried it in its recommended ported enclosure as well as the sealed enclosure. Both resulted in the same flapping noise.

I asked a guy that knows his stuff to look at it and he determined that the voice coil was rubbing. Upon further research I found out that when a voice coil rubs it does have a flapping noise.

Hope you have a warranty on it.

its not a flapping sound, it sounds fine ive reached xmax before on an he2 in a sealled box, its not a flapping its a knocking sound just when the sub hits its max throw, thats not with the actual vc

my friend had 2 12" hx2's and they hit really hard but on low freq's it made a slappin fluttering noise. he blew them like a month later........he was also underpowering them by 250 watts w/low gains

but this is upper, and like i said low sounds fine, and its not flapping, its a true knocking just when the sub reaches full stroke on upper notes, so is this just cause its a sealled and u think a ported will help it?

i used to have a p1 series 12 '' sub and it hit xmax early as well, i went to look at the instruction booklet and it said the xmax was only 7 mm! 150 rms my ***
