Hi guys, I have a question. I know everyone always says they hate Caps and such, and to do the big three and a second battery but i have a deli ma..

Here are some specs:

1. I can not get a bigger alt. than 130 amp (Im sure I could but i cant afford one)

2. I have already performed the big 3 partially (except new battery, mine is only a few months old) -is a standard battery for my car.. about 550CCA and 650ish CA... I think....

3. I have 2 12's running off a JBL 1200.1 II-Z Class D Mono, (1400w-) Pulls a max of 140amps.

I am wondering, keeping my current battery and getting lets say a 600 amp CapCell, do you guys think it would do the trick considering my limitations?

I cant afford a second battery, nor do I wish to replace the front one for that matter at the prices they are charging for Red top and Yellow top batteries..

I pretty much have almost the power i need for the most part, but i need to stiffen the power a bit and esp when the head lights are on LOL!!!

Do you think a 600 amp Capcell would be sufficient?

What do you guys think?

By sufficient do you mean no dimming? The answer is no. You will be able to run it just fine for quite a while. You may damage your current alt, but it won't be right away. If I were you, I'd finish the big 3. I wouldn't worry about a cap because it can't help you unless you have a large enough alternator that you get no voltage drop and you only get voltage spikes due to regulator lag. Throw that idea out the window. A second battery is usually the only way these guys can run these 5000w amps etc but they don't fix any problems.

Until you can get a bigger alt, just turn the gain down. Turn it up until you get only slight dimming. If you get any more, back the gain down a little. It might be fun to keep turning it up, but you will pay for it one way or another.

Thanks for the reply, but this raises a few more questions and also id like to add some more detail and see if it makes any difference..

So if i crunch the numbers on the saying every 10 amps = 100 w output.. my amp is rated at peak RMS power of 140 amps.. Currently in its configuration with my subs Im estimating its amp draw is around 78ish.

No depending on the type of music Im listening too, as various forms of music produces different frequencies the subs have to produce. The type of music i mainly listen too I can turn the volume up (i dont know the technical terms) but to the volume level i have the amps tuned too... and I do not have any dimming problems.

But when i do listen to music that really pulls some power (which is now and again) the at night the headlights do dim, but as I read, this is a constant issue, most have fixed by doing the big 3.

So Im just tring to have a little extra power for those "once in a while piss the other drivers off music secessions...

Does this make a differance? Im looking at a few Capcells that are supposed to be Hybrid Caps, built almost like a battery but not quite a battery... and store power like a battery but perform more like a CAP.. IN theory they store a little extra power and when called on provides it.. ?>?

Last thing i would like to post is that i do have a 2 Fared Cap with digital volt meter, now I dont know if this helps or really makes a differance when we are talking about amperage, but in my research if the Voltage drops, that means the amperage is dropping being its not supplying the Voltage quick enough..

The meter shows only a loss of about .4 running constant at 14.6 and dropping only about .4 Im persuming that .4 is making my head lights dim?

So with that information would you say a CapCell "might" do the trick or do you still feel like it wont achieve anything?

Thanks for reading..
