potential scam?

hi guys..i am selling some tires on craigs list and i would say 90% of the people who have emailed which would be about 20 have said they will pay me by a certified cashiers check and have someone pick them up..is there a scam going around where soon has i give the tires to the guy picking them up someone else calls the bank and reposts the cashiers check stolen or lost and they get it cancelled? because i dont understand why everyone wants to pay this way...any ideas?

Save yourself the trouble. Accept cash only.

its a scam, they send you a large check and you sent it to the bank and it takes a week to come back with no funds... only screws you, dont do it at all. they will ask for you to send some of the money back.

what if i tell him to come with me to the currency exchange and cash it right there..if they cash it for me there then its ok..but i wont give him the tires untill the cash is in my hand...

if they can do that, then they can just give you cash. How much are you asking for. If I was you I would stay away from checks. Cash or money order only.

you know if you just have the person send you what ever they wana send you, and you get it checked, to see if its real and if it clears and you get actual money, Then you send the item to that person,. if its fake, or you dont get any real money then you do not send the item.

is that so hard? or am I missing something. because people ask these questions alot.

you know if you just have the person send you what ever they wana send you, and you get it checked, to see if its real and if it clears and you get actual money, Then you send the item to that person,. if its fake, or you dont get any real money then you do not send the item.

the thing about craigslist is, its instant, there is no shipping involved haha. so youll get the check that day and they get the item that day. So say your check takes 5 days to clear, that person is 5 days gone by the time you find out. If they are sending something yeah I see your point.

its a set of tires off of a gmc denali i have listed for $550 but i told the potential buyers i can drop it to $500 the tires have less then 5000 miles on them they are almost brand new and comes with the stock 17'' chrome denali wheels..im hoping i can get a buyer for them so i can pick up some equipment soon..

ya im glad i asked i was feeling kinda weird about it..eiter they come with cash or i can drive them 3 blocks down by the currency exchange and we can cash whatever they bring..
