Possible to bridge a deck?

I was wondering if anyone has ever cut their deck to 2 channels to run the fronts, then run a component set in the rear speakers off of a 2ch amp?

Any technologically inclined people know if this is possible? I can't see a reason it wouldn't be, however my grasp of car audio is fairly simple. :S

I've heard "rumors" of it being done with decks that have MOSFET componentry.

Try it and let us know how it works out....

I've heard of Pioneers being bridged to run a small subwoofer.... apparently not bad output... but SERIOUS heat issues... and reliability... don't do it unless it's a last resort or you could care less if the deck melts into a neat little ball of nothingness

In the instruction manual for my Pioneer it says when there are no speakers hooked up to the deck, then it is possible to run a small 2 ohm subwoofer off one of the rear speaker outputs in subwoofer mode. It said the rated output power of one of the rear outputs with just one 2 ohm speaker hooked to one output is 40 watts rms, 70 peak. It says that in my instruction manual.
