I have a Rockford Fosgate P6001bd that may be blown. When I was screwing the power wire into the power input there was a big spark and it smelled burnt. So I checked all the external fuses on the amp and the fuse between amp and batt were fine. When I opened up the amp nothing looks abnormal or out of place (that i can tell at least). Here are some shots of the internals. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Heres the shots

Let me guess. You didn't disconnect your battery negative before messing around with your electrical. Wise. You don't have to physically see damage for their to be damage. If it won't turn on, process of elimination says you damaged it. And the fact that you got a burnt smell isn't good.

Hopefully you have now learned your lesson and ALWAYS disconnect the negative from the battery before ever messing with electrical in your car.

You could try taking it to a local electronics repair shop. They may be able to fix it for less than another new one would cost.

here is the big question... did you try to hook it up after the sparks flew? it may be fine.x2 on unhooking the ground.
You know. I just assumed that this would have been attempted before he posted //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif But true, nowhere does he mention that he tried.

Honestly, I think you ought to just take it to a shop or get a friend that has some experience. Not trying to be an ***, but from your post and replies to us, I think you'd be wise to get some local help.

hey my fellow hawaiian brother. the same thing happened to me last week. the amp is defective and the power is grounding out somewhere in the amp. my amp did the same thing. it was smelling really bad. if you have warranty i would hit that up but if you dont...........fuc*
