Possible Amp Death

Im not sure 100% if it was my amp, but chances are...it was.

Setup in sig

I was going down the road listening to Tech Nine - Get Blowed. I was by no means bumping it to its max, but it was going pretty decent. I had only been listening for about 5-10 minutes when this happened. The amp was no where near overheated. The only thing different from usuall was that I had changed up the equalizer a little bit, trying to get a little more SQ. Then all of a sudden the speakers make a small pop (most noticeably the front ones). The headunit also shut off at the same time, cutting out all the speakers. I then smelled a slight burning smell then it quickly passed. I went right back to my dorm so I could check it out in hopes that it was just a fuse for some d@mn reason. Pull all of them out, nothing noticeable. I then start the car back up to see if maybe the amp went into uber protection mode, amp light not coming on. Im going to go down to Wal-Mart much later tonight to get a set of fuses and replace them all for just in case I missed a blow but I looked them over pretty good. How would I check to see if the amp itself is blown? I only mention the song because I think it was ironic that I blew something to "Get Blowed".

Long Story short:

-Heard a small pop then headunit turned off. Came back on after a couple seconds but no bass

-Smelt a small electrical burning smell but nothing smelled once I checked everything out

-Amp is not getting power any more

-Headunit and front speakers still work

-Checked all fuses and none appear to be blown but Im going to change later to be safe

-Need to know how to physically check the amp to see if its dead

take the amp out and go to the battery and quickly connect it to the pos and neg strait from the battery, dont forget to put the remote wire in the pos to then see if the lights on the amp turn on.

Well, I think I found the problem. I never moved my remote to the back of my head unit. Its still connect in my fuse box...more than likely my turn signals at that. Well, I took my car for a drive to get something to eat and went to signal. No signal. Downpooring as all hell get out and my fuse box is under my dash so Im too lazy to check it right now. But pretty much my remote went out on me and Im guessing that the popping noise wasnt actually my speakers but the fuse box that is right next to my front speaker. Still trying to figure how it actually blew out though. Thanks for the help guys.
