I dont know where to start. I bought a refurb 880 and hooked it up. Worked great. I ran it passive and learned the hu. I removed my rear seat and did the permanent install with all my amps to go active. The hu didnt sound right after the install, with alt whine to boot.. After 4 hrs of trouble shooting which included a trip to wal mart for some cheap rca and reinstalling my old alpine Hu, its the rca connections in the prs. Ive heard of this problem and after seeing the dumb way they plug into a harness which in turn plugs into the hu I shouldnt be surprized. Sorry for the rant but I was out of my mind with rage. It worked for 2 weeks then started to malfunction. And yes I bought it refurbed on e-bay. It has a 90 day warranty from pioneer on the refurb, but I have my old alpine in now with no tweets for god knows how long. Whoever engineered the rca outputs should be cleaning toilets not designing a HU!

hate to burst your bubble but pioneer does not authorized ebay sales, and premier has no authorized online dealers, so good luck getting pioneer to fix it

Electronix outlet is taking care of me. I dropped it off at the repair place 2 towns away from me. It will be ready fri! Great service. Hope it doesnt happen again though. Ive heard the square deal warranties arent worth it. Anybody ever use the warranty? TIA, Chuck

I puchased my PRS880 from OnlineCarStereo, and when I received it It had a problem right out of the box, after inserting a CD the Face would not close and play the CD, It would close if I ejected the CD though.

Anyway, long story short, I called Pioneer for an authorized repair center.

I brought it to the repair center, and they checked the manufacturers date on the unit as well as the serial, and took it in for repair. No questions asked regarding who or where I purchased it from.

Long story short, turned out to be a problem witha chip of some sort, and the parts were not avail, so Pioneer gave me a new unit.

I feel for you my brother . I went through 4 yes 4 different 880's in a span of a month . First two were ground problems , third was a controller chip or some crap . Fourth one was the same freaking ground problem again . All four were brand new in the box from an authorized premier dealer . The fourth one being installed by the dealer . FYI..over the course of the past couple months, my display has gone blank about 3 times on my 880. Checked the wires, then about a week later, the entire display went blank again, including the lights around the knobs. Music was still playing though. Re-started the car, and it was all good, and I haven't had trouble in weeks. Weird. I'm thinking maybe the connection between the face and the unit might be dusty...

Funny part is that I am no noob. Im 38 yrs old and have had countless systems. One of them was close to the 10k mark. Having kids put my car audio an the back burner for awhile, but Im having a mid life crisis so the system lives again.
