ports clearance

Is there a certain amount of clearance that has to be on each side of the port with the walls, like about an inch away all the way around. And can the port be facing the the side of your sub (side of the magnet) about half a foot away. I know you have to have @ least your dia at the end of your port away from the wall. And also to figure out the length of a curved pipe you have to take the outside length of the curve and the inside length of the curve add them together and dived it by two right?.....thanx

I recall reading months ago that you want the port opening at least the diamenter if round from any walls. Also do not have the port opening right behind the sub without a shield so the back air off the cone does not go into the port before it has a chance to pressurize the entire box. This is what I recall seeing but could be made up.
