ported vs. vented

It's all gravy :p OT: Did you ever decide to go with the whole bunch of 8"s idea? Or the SEXXX in your gallery...
the seXXX is in there right now, and it's louder and possibly may even sound better. :thumbsup

But i still am considering the RE8's sometime down the road just to see what it can do. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Its funny how this start, since everyone said port and vent is same, I said we should just refer to vent as a cut-out in the box. But do you people read my whole post, no-way. Think about it, if you understood that post, there would be nothing to say against me and that wouldn't be fun.

I have become the centre of attention here. So no matter if its a thread about just type a letter. Most of you will wait till I reply and say its the wrong letter. This one man with all these derogatory sigs and pictures about me, its his way of competing, instead of bringing facts. Somebody dissed how I used "your", so I responded, then somebody who never saw it, just comes out on nowhere and says I don't make sense.

Why, because he didn't check the whole post before posting. Thats what makes it fun for me. You guys power, is to read 1/4 of my post then reply to that. It's nice. I like how he said "dam" country.

I have read your ENTIRE posts, and it doesn't say anything we didn't already know. Why the hell would we call a vent just a hole in a box?(as you so blatantly put it in your first post).

You have become the CENTER of attention because you are making a complete *** out of yourself. No one is competing with you....nobody has to because we all know you are wrong, port=vent....end of story. I did see YOUR "your" post, and responded. And yes, you didn't make sense.

I have read your posts in entirety and actually feel stupid for doing so.

I think i'm done ripping that post to shreads.

What's up with below 30??? Sounds like hes having a mid-life online car audio crisis. Below 30, I'm a newb, I ask questions, I get correct answers from these people all the time. If you just asked some questions maybe you would have some no-how and could pass some correct info onto the sprouting newbs of this site. I think its time to mellow out man.

and as far as the canadian crack , it was a JOKE. Dont you people love how he tried to divert attention from his stupidity to being something racist? Almost like Al Sharptin....hahah NOW THAT IS ALSO A JOKE. **** i have to type that everytime so canadians, blacks, americans etc all dont get mad. Below 30, if you are so knowledgable, why dont you prove it to us. Tell us something here about car audio that will knock our socks off because it is so over our head. Im always in the mood to learn from someone who knows their shit (you decide if that statement was a joke)

Weren't we talking about subwoofer boxes a long time ago?

To me, ported means tube porting. Venting would be square tunnel type ports. Its one of those technicalities where both terms are really interchangable. If you ask me for a ported box, you'll get a square vented one because that's the only type I build......well there are a few exceptions //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

At any rate, for the sake of preservation of digital bandwidth I think the mods should go back and delete the cesspool of festering crap that preceded this post.....this is a subwoofer forum, not a chat room, fellas. If you have nothing to say thats even remotely coherent to the title of the thread or the questions/comments within, please don't waste our time or yours.

The only thing that sucks about canada is that i can't ship boxes there.

That was well put LoneRanger, it's almost acceptable enough to finalize all the crap that has been shoveled up lately, but of course there has been several good caps like that and we have yet to leave it alone. I guess I am doing the same...

We should get back to teaching newbies like myself how to install and get the best of our systems, EH? (just had to throw some Canadian slang in)

Ok, I really cannot stand you anymore. Look at yourself. You are 34 years old and are posing ridiculous arguments that make no sense with people generally 10 years younger than you, including myself. If I didn't know better, you must have Down's or something like that. You don't understand the same points that experts such as Geolemon have reiterated to you several times. Ported and vented are the same **** thing. I personally like Dbfans sig..... you ARE like a turd that is hard to flush. The sad thing is that you are a 34 year old turd who is being beligerent and talking about how everyone is jealous of you. Personally, I think you hold the argument of a demented frog. If you have nothing better to do with your life than play Samurai Showdown and talk about your booming "wave-bass", their is something wrong.

I think it is safe to say that no one would be disappointed if you left this forum. I hope for your sake that one day you might get a life, and stop constipating this forum with your verbal supositories.

Who said I didn't like being the centre of attention, its good. To just get here and rile all of you up, is a great power.

http://www.caraudio.com/vb/showpost.php?p=393316&postcount=71 This post was well said. I said instead of just having a vent mean port and port mean vent, I will say vent is just a cut out. Now only one person after me actually came up with a difference to say its a non circle shape. Thats way better than "it's the same".

Its strange to me that your all so mezmorized with me as a man, to put me in your sigs. I would rather talk about females in my sig, just me though.

Ported, vented, bandpass . . . It's all bass to me . . . even though there is a difference.

Sealed boxes: For deep, precise bass

A sealed box is an airtight enclosure housing your subwoofer. A sealed box is best for any music that demands tight, accurate bass. Expect flat response (not excessively boomy), deep bass extension, and excellent power handling. Since a sealed enclosure tends to require more power than a ported box, use an amplifier with ample wattage for optimum performance.

Ported boxes: For forceful bass

Ported boxes use a vent (called a port) to reinforce low bass response. You get more output than you would from a sealed box at any given amplifier wattage. Some people prefer the sound of ported boxes for rock, heavy metal, or any hard-driving music. Ported boxes can deliver deeper bass than sealed boxes, though they need to be much larger than sealed enclosures to accomplish that.

Bandpass boxes: Maximum slam!

Bandpass boxes are a special type of ported box designed for maximum slam. The woofer is mounted inside a dual-chambered box (one chamber sealed, the other ported), with the sound waves emerging from the ported side. The sound that comes out of the port is extra loud within a narrow frequency range.

Because bandpass boxes are super efficient within that range, they tend to boom. Their aggressive sound is great for rap, reggae, and hard rock. Not all subwoofers work well in bandpass boxes, though; consult our product information or call a Product Advisor to be sure.

Mesmorized? WTF are you talking about? We all hate you, and the sigs are to make fun of you. You think you would get the point by now, you are like a beligerent little child. Every time someone expresses their opinion about you, you say something stupid like "you are all mesmerized about me". The only thing we are mesmerized about is they dumbness of half of your posts. We would have never started to hate you if you had not posted incorrect information to begin with.
