Ported vs vented box

wow guyz, i'm so glad that my simple question could provide such post whoring for all of you sad souls out there. From what i can tell, it just seems that the difference between the two names for the openings in the front of this type of box is that one by defination makes sense and that the other was though up by some turd that thought he could sell the same idea under a differnet name, and be considered a genius. Thank you all so very much for the input, it was much needed, and i am now enlighted by your whoring.

prodigy. its called a joke. take it easy...

also if you read closely i agree that they are the same thing. however i was trying to make a point that the words are not interchangeable. it is a misuse of english language to use them as equal terms when they in fact refer to completely different structures. which is why i think there should be a universal term which refers to this structure, particularly when talking about loudspeaker enclosures. port/vent, it pretty much is a resonator for all intents and purposes. and is pretty confusing to newbs so i thought i would try to clear it up.
