I am still rather new on the whole car audio scene. I have some experience with doin some installs for my self and a coupla my friends. I have some knowledge about speakers/subs, HU's, wiring, but when it comes to boxes...I am totally in the dark. So any way, what is the diff between a vented and ported box? And waht would you suggest for to alpine 12's in a ford taurus trunk (not huge but not small), we are looking for hard hitting. And based on that ne suggestions on where to get some plans for that kinda box.

ports and slot ports are different. Some people call SLOT PORTS vents.

Slot port= vented.

ported = vented, you can add any qualifiers you want.

slot ported = slot vented

shitty port = shitty vent

they both have the same function. lets agree on that. they are different designs though. I personally regard a port to be a circular opening, usually made from a PVC flange and /(or cardboard) tube. I personally regard a vent or slot port as a rectangular or square shaped hole with no flanged opening. Just the way I look at it, but correct me if I'm wrong.
