I'm considering an IDQ 15 in a ported enclosure.

Is it a bad idea to fire the sub upward and port to the rear? Does it matter much? This will be going in the hatch of an SUV and this allows for the best fit.

I've never had a ported enclosure. Should I be concerned about port noise in an SUV?

That is called a CRX style box, yes it will work fine (some people even swear by them).

SUV's have good and bad going for them with port noise. Good... the subs are generally in the back, far away, harder to hear port whistle. Bad... the enclosure is not buried in the trunk, its in the same airspace as your ears... easier to hear port whistle.

*shrug*

Build the ports correctly (enough area) and you wont have to worry either way, there wont be any audible port noise. Keep port air velocity to a minimum and you'll be fine.
