Okay, just wondering the reality of that. Im FGing a little pod into the side of my trunk but has anyone ever ported a FG enclosure or does ports rely on being of a box design? Wouldn't mind extra SPL for when I get my sub.
Yep if you got enough room to go ported it's not that difficult really. You just need to think ahead a little. If the port need to be folded in the enclosure. I build the port inside before stretching the fleece. Then fleece over everything, and go back in with a router and a flush trim bit. If I'm using pvc for the port. I cut out a circle 1-1.25" larger than the diameter of the pvc. Mount it in the enclosure like you mount the rings. But make sure you mount it with enough room to fit the port in correctly afterwards. Then stretch and resin it. Then use the raouter and the flush trim bit to cut out the hole for the port. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
sounds like something I might look into... however I dont know much about ported enclosures or designing boxes or anything like that
But I thought that a ported enclosure heavily relied on correct measurements and exact angles... how would you measure out the ports and dimensions or does it not matter and all you need to do is put in a PVC pipe with a decently accurate volume or something?
for ease, you can used the precision ports that we use. They allow you to figure up your gross air space when you are all finished and then cut the port to the proper length.
