do ported boxes have to be a certian shape can they be biult like a sealed box

esentially yes...ported boxes are generally larger than sealed boxes though and if your planning on building one you should probably check out how big of a port you need for your specific speaker and the cubic ft of air space recomended by the manufacturer...there is a good book out that explains all of that information...its the car audio cookbook....it gives you formulas and all that information...you can probably get it at your local library as well.....just thought i'd give you the heads up...

You actually can make the box any shape, as long as the ports are the proper legnth, and width and the box is built to the right specs for cu. ft.
