ported & sealed box volumes

Ive always read that ported boxes have to have a larger volume as opposed to sealed enclosures. I was looking at my brothers box which is ported and he has 2 kicker cvr10's just like me. But his box has a port and it doesnt look bigger than mine, but when i sit in his car it seems like it hits pretty hard. This is the box he has..

This is the box i have, its sealed but it seems to be bigger in size so it should have more volume right? Excuse the writing in the pic*
