I have about 115 sq. inches on my 4.5 cube box and I like it plenty //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
adire told me 28sq" for a 3cu' for my B-15 and that sounds a lot better than 58sq" in a 3.5cu' box...higher SPL too. i think the port area has a lot to do with the sub rather than just the box size.
you want to select your port area, taking in to consideration your subwoofer parameters and desired tuning frequency, making the port bigger then necessary will waste usable space and if the port area is made excessively large, it could possibly allow the subwoofer to over excurt and get damaged. so just keep the port area to the minim requirements and it will meet and exceed your needs.
