port location???

now, i am starting on a box for 5 sa8's.... I have everything figured out except for the placement, quantity, and size of ports..... I have an extended cab ranger, box is in the back and the center console is out... I was planning on 2 four inch external aeros firing between the two front seats where the center console used to be.... Is this a bad idea??? subs are facing directly upwards.. going for a 35 hz tuning.

I would do a lot more port than 2 4" aeros unless you don't want a lot of output

subs forward/port up....I've tried every possible way really in an ext cab and that seems to work the best

what length for a 35hz tuning... i plug it into a calculator and it says that for a 3.0 cu ft net enclosure the ports would have to be 37 inches long...that doesnt seem right???

psp-inc.com for the calculator.....2 6" aeros on a 2.5 cuft box would be 46" long

a slot port would be easier in this application

This. Aeros are expensive and I would only use them if you are really tight on space or if you are competing

I don't have the design anymore, but I think it was either 2.5@32hz or 3@32hz

I've had too many setups I can't remember what it did on the meter....47 or 48 something

would it be a bad idea to build a separate chamber for each sub and then tune each of those chambers to a different frequency??? 28-40hz???

bad idea, that would not work. Maybe if you had 5 different amps. A box like I posted is tried and true...build one like it and be done

well I would like to stick with aeros because the precision port ones are cheap and they are a lot easier for me to install than a slot port.... will two four inch aeros really lower my output that much???

and I dont know how you got a 32 hz tuning with that port because the port calculator tells me that a 5 inch wide by 9.5 inch tall slot port would have to be 55.6 inches??? please educate me

that port isn't 5" x 9.5"......not sure the exact length but it goes down the box, then comes back up

I don't design boxes so I can't help with the port size/length , I had someone do that one
