Port length Question

I'm building my first box with a flared psp port and I used the psp port calculator to find the length and i was wondering if the length the give me is the length the tube needs to be or the length including the flares. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 
The effective port length is typically the tube plus 1/3-1/2 the length of each flare depending on the size and dimensions of the flare. I'm not sure if the PSP calculator takes that into account or not. The difference is usually negligible if you're using multiple or fairly large ports.

 
Where do you get your info from? Holy crap, does anyone research things before giving advice? Look at their website, and under the "installation instructions" link you choose what size your using. The 2" aero port requires 4" to be cut off, and the 3", 4" and 6" ports all say to trim 5" off.

lol, I'm a noob on this forum but I've been around others for awhile. I prefer the Termpro forums.

And the PSP calculator is pretty ****ed good too. I used their calculator for my most recent enclosure and then tested it with my Termlab meter and it was dead on. Very good calculator.

And actually, it depends on how you calculate it for sure. In a sense, both of us were correct.

I found the installation instructions included with a 4" port. It has the formula for lv. Once calculated, it says subtract 5". Then when its assembled, a flared port will be 1" longer than lv. Well on the psp-inc site, it has length for both straight and flared ports. If you use the flared port length, you need to subtract 6" off the length and cut the tube at that (because it has already added the extra 1" onto the lv). But if you use the straight port length, subtact 5" so that you can gain the extra 1" on overall port length.

 
But using the straight port length isn't for the aero port, it's for a regular round tube port.
Thats what I was saying. The standard formula for giving you port length with yield a length for a straight port. With a flare, you have to add an extra inch.

But thats where it can get confusing when talking about trimming 5" off or 6" off.
