Have a 10' Alpine SWS D2 that I'm using with a rectangle shape box I built. Thought it'd be best to do a simple build for the car before I do the dual opposing driver enclosure that I want to build for the house.

The volume of the box is 1.5 cubic feet, (11.5 x 15.5 x 19) which is a little large for the specs of the (had a 10w7 that was stolen that I built the box for) Alpine which optimum ported enclosure is .2-.4 cubic feet smaller. Got the 2 inch diameter flared port that's 7 inches long from Partsexpress that can be cut to the length needed.

To tune it at 31 Hz it the length should be 4.77 inches per the calculator I used.

My questions are do the calculators take into account the flared port inside the box? Aside from additional poly fill what are some methods I can use to compensate for the box being .3 cubic feet too large? Additional internal bracing?

Have read it's best to place the port 3-4 inches from the sides. Is the best placement of the port in direct center of the back of the enclosure?

Does tuning it at a higher frequency, say 32 Hz, help with a smoother roll off?

Would really appreciate any assistance gentlemen
