port help needed

how much space do i need between an 8" x 10" port and

an interor panel in my car,

i have about 3 to 4 " in between my box and the rear hatch but if i do a ported box and port back will that be enough room ?

if not how dose a crx sound ported on the side.

ideally you would want about 6 inches so that the air isnt restricted as to affect the tuning of the port (the more the better thou)

you said its a hatch back right?

if so make the port on top of the box and let the air just flow off of the rear glass

i thought so also but everyone says in a crx subs up ports back.

thats why i was thinking port on the side.

i have a hatch and no matter how i fire my box, it is just as loud to my ear. However in my blazer, it mattered.
