Polyfill and downward facing subs

This is my first post here so ..Hello everyone!

I have a downward facing sub. Box is a few hairs smaller than I would like so I am going the polyfill route.

My question is... Since Gravity will push the polyfill into the sub, is it possible for the polyfill to get into the sub and damage it.

Since Polyfill melts..is it possible for it to melt onto the sub?

If the polyfill will indeed damage the sub..Any suggestions for keeping it away from the sub?.. netting comes to mind.

I had the same issue with a subbox in my old Jeep. I solved it by stretching grill cloth across the front of the box and then inserting the subs into the holes thereby pushing the cloth into the holes around the subs like a condom. Once the subs were screwed down I trimmed the excess grill cloth that was still sticking out underneath the subs.

Out of curiosity.. What would happen if the polyfill got into the sub, like around the cone and between the magnet..?

I've seen polyfill sheets at walmart. I have no experience with them, but it could be another possibility...maybe to glue layers to the inside of the box?

I was just going to stuff my downfire box wih polyfil as well. You mean it will damage the subs if I do this?

I have TC 1000's so the voice coil is somewhat exposed I guess

If you stuff it in there it really isn't going much of anywhere.

I used 1 lb per cuft...I just read on Parts Express that they recommend 1/2lb per cuft.

Which is correct?
