just curious if the L7 15 would get louder than an SX15 off of the same power because of it's increase in surface area???

Which can handle more power???

i'm putting it in a 4cube box tuned to 35 htz...

in your experience, which do you believe had better sq/output or are they pretty closely matched???

*only reason i would do this is to get a brand new woofer for the 1st time, and to test out kicker sub quality...

Well, I fI answer this the wrong way, people would say that I'm just biased, but I think either would be loud off that enclosure, dependant on power applied. The L7 has more cone, but the SX may have more Xmax. Sealed, and ported I think you'd have two different conclusions. I think he answered the question by stating he doesnt want to say because people will just say he is biased. That would mean he likes the kicker, kuz if he said the SX, then people would not say he was biased

But I'll just say in a ported box, I prefer more cone, sealed, more Xmax.

he's got a great point there...cone area for ported...xmax for sealed...

I've heard a few SX setups and MANY L7 setups.

I'm partially biased to an L7 since I've owned a pair, but regardless, I think the L7 would win this battle.

Although, I think the SX would be a wiser decision, jsut becasue it's sound quality will be a bit better. Not to say the L7 has poor SQ like everything believes, its nothing special but has decent SQ.
