Pocket bikes Legal??

I'm looking to buy something small, such as a pocket bike, or some kind of scooter that is street legal, yet something i dont have to have licensed. I've heard from people that if its under 50cc's, then you dont have to have it licensed.

I want it to be gas powered, and not too pricy ($500 or less). What do you guys suggest? I basically want something motorized i can ride over to my friend's house or something that i wont get pulled over on.

I do know that it would have to have mirrors and proper brake lights/turn signals to be street legal.

um, that would exceed the price range, and thats probably more unsafe on a fast road than a go-kart.. u would definitely get pulled over for one of those

Neither pocket bikes or those goofy gas powered shooter things that seem to be popular right now are street legal in my state.
I know someone that actually got a ticket for being on the street with one of those scooter things.

ya i know some guy got arrested down here in Florida for riding an unlicensed pocket bike, but the engine was bigger than 50cc's.

If it does not have a plate and is not licensed you are probably not allowed to drive it on the road. They have those small 100-200cc scooters you can get cheap but you will need to register it..

ya, i want something under 50cc so u dont have to get it registered.

its kind of like how bicycles dont have to have a plate on them, and they dont have brake lights, or turn signals either.

cant i just use my hands on the pocket bike?
