My buddy wanted me to ask if plumbers putty (he says it dont harden) that is waterproof works like the non hardening modeling clay you guys use.. thanks!

i used it for the 4x6's in my dash and my 7's in the kick. havent really checked up on it in a while but i dont see it moving anytime soon. so far i give it the thumbs up!

btw i put this stuff in over a year ago.

People put modeling clay between the baffle and the door. Some people also put it between the driver and the baffle.

Rope caulk is what you want. Like $4 a roll, found in the weatherstripping section. Won't melt, stays pliable, etc... Been using it for years.

Ok thanks, can anyone else agree for me that rope caulk would be better than plumbers putty for this?

It all does the same thing. I like the thin foam tape myself, but all it does is seal the baffle from the mid, strengthing midbass and eliminating rattles.
