Could I get some opinions on this component list. I spent some time with a Crutchfield rep and he suggested the following for a 2002 4runner:

113KDCX396 Kenwood Excelon KDC-X396 CD Receiver $120

1086032SI Infinity Reference 6032si 6.75" 2-way Speakers Shallow $75

107DXI400 Polk Audio DXi400 4" Coaxial Speakers $68

777M4075 Sound Ordnance M4075 75W x 4 Car Amplifier $130

136S110R33 JL Audio PowerWedge CS110RG-W3v3 10" Single 2-ohm Hatchback Sub Enclosure $320

777M1500 Sound Ordnance M1500 500W x 1 at 2 Ohms Car Amplifier $130

Misc

541SPW516B Stinger SPW516BK per foot 16 Gauge Speaker Wire Black

211SC14250 StreetWires SCP14 per foot 14-gauge Blue Speaker Wire

142A17C EFX 17-ft. Stereo RCA Patch Cable

142PA8 EFX Amplifier Wiring Kit 8-gauge w/Patch Cord

What I am leaning towards doing is getting the HU and the 4 speakers. Getting 2 of the Polk 4 ohm dc subs on sale at Best Buy and the Rocksford Fosgate 200ix amp for sale here.

Is the Sound Ordinance 75 x 4 amp descent, or would I be better off getting something like the Alpine MRV-F345 amp being sold here for $140.

They recommended an RF dual amp wiring harness for $185! I see it on ebay for $99. Are there more cost efficient solutions out there?

PS - This is for my son's car, so a budget teen-friendly build is what I am after.

you would be much better off with a different amp. i've been pushing Boston Acoustics GT series a lot lately. The prices on the GT-475 is pretty great when you consider the caliber of amp you are getting for the money.

Some used amps would also be a great way to save coin while getting a better quality product.

Nice choice on the HU. best budget HU on the market today, IMO.

I recommend the same line of speakers front and rear - keeps tonality consistent. Infinity Reference is a fine choice.

you can certainly save some money on the sub/enclosure - and that money can be used to improve the amplifier(s). $320 for a 10 in a wedge box is a bit pricey given the performance. You could pickup a brand new Dayton HO 10" for around $120 and a box to match from Parts Express for under $200 shipped. The performance would be the same as the JL (which has >2x markup) and about 4x total markup (build cost vs sale price). I love JL products and if you can afford them then go head, but their pricing markup is outrageous. When budget is at play.

the amps should be the most expensive parts of the system.

$170 on eBay. Not bad. Is the RF 200ix at $160 a good way to go? Or are you suggesting 2 of the gt475s?

if you go to the boston acoustics site and click on refurbished

Boston Acoustics US)

click refurbished on top and go to page 3

you will see the boston acoustics gta1105 5 channel amp for 150 shipped msrp on these is 400 bucks its an amazing deal

Front and Rear Power @ 4-ohm Stereo (CEA-2006-A): 70 Watts x 4

Front and Rear Power @ 2-ohm Stereo (CEA-2006-A): 125 Watts x 4

Front and Rear Power @ 4-ohm Mono(CEA-2006-A): 250 Watts x 2

Subwoofer Channel Power @ 4-ohm Mono (CEA-2006-A): 250 Watts x 1

Subwoofer Power Power @ 2-ohm Mono (CEA-2006-A): 400 Watts x 1

this would lso negate the dual amp wiring kit and you would only have to run one amp

for a sub i would go with

Boston Acoustics G215 44 Car Audio Stereo 15" Power Sub Woofer Subwoofer G21544 | eBay
amazing deal on closeout

all great subs, depending on how loud you want to get i may just go with one 15

Bravox EXS15D-4 Extreme Duty 15" DVC Subwoofer 4 Ohm Per Coi 269-534
Audio Technix 400W RMS 800W Max Strato Series Subwoofer Dual 4 Ohm 15" Sub | eBay

http://www.caraudio.com/forums/sundown-audio/567098-sundown-february-sale-e-neopro-series.html
and you get a warranty from auth dealer

then for a box a custom box is a must contact @double 07 ; this is the box he made me amazing and the box is the most important piece for the sound of the sub.

http://www.caraudio.com/forums/starr-mountain-sound/567349-mcclerico83s-rd-12-enclosure.html

and he is pretty close to you in tn

the boston acoustics 5 channel gta-1105 its a monster amp

and a double07 enclosure custom built for the sundown

and the knuconceptz 4 awg kit

then for highs your choicees are endless. the money i saved you i woud jump on some of the

Incriminator Audio I Series 6.5" Components

and for the rear

http://www.caraudio.com/forums/phd-audiophile-systems/567739-sale-phd-fb-4-1c.html

Boston Acoustics SE45 4" 160W 2 Way Full Range Coaxial Car Audio Door Speakers 690283478841 | eBay

JBL GTO428 4" Car Speakers 4 inch Car Audio Speakers GTO Series Pair GTO 428 0500369302604 | eBay

New CDT Audio CL 4EX 4" 2 Way 4 Ohm Car Stereo Full Range Coaxial Speakers CL4EX | eBay

with the phd being the best and the cdt second
Would I be best staying with jobless front and rear per keephopealive?
Jobless huh. I would do the phds rear and jbls or the b stock cdts front @trumpet ; has for sale

so my list is
the boston gta-1105

the phd 4's

the sundown e-15 d4 on sale for 105

the cdt speakers from trumpet http://www.caraudio.com/forums/speaker-classifieds/565776-cdt-audio-b-stock-hd-61-6-5-components.html

and a custom box from double07 and remember he is in Chattanooga so you could pick up the box and save on shipping and is a great guy and top notch builds

way cheaper than what you were going to pay and will sound a lot better
