please recommend subwoofer system for under 400

i probably go with the alpine mrd-m650 since i could buy it around my way for about 170 BNIB. so which sub should i get the dual 2 or dual 4?

i rather buy a box since i have no tools, knowledge or time to build one myself.

Come on my whole system was $275 why are you guys trying to get him to buy a $200 sub and a $200 amp?

You could buy 1 sub wire it at 4 ohms and get 300 watts ($170) or you could buy 2 subs wire it at 2 ohms and get 250 watts going to each ($240).

Then i would get someone on here to design a box and build it for you. Since thats where most of the sound quality comes from. Spend extra on the box there are alot of good builders and designers on here.

my 2 cents

Not a bad system. However, The 12" IDQ on 600W RMS @ 2ohms from that Alpine amp will eat that one for breakfast and crap out musical notes later on, all else being equal. Besides, he stated he wanted to spend no more than $400, so were getting him the best bang for his $400, not $275.

...stricly my opinion. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Last time i heard the ID was a tad louder than the IDQ but the IDQ sounded better. Just trying to save the kid some money since he obviously is new to it and we all know in about 3 months hes going to want more so why spend $500. If hes never had a system he could throw in a pyle on 50w and probably be happy for a while.

1 12" sub system is probably the last thing installed in my car's stereo system. i was tremendously happy with the crystal sscs 6 component system i got installed but it wasn't providing the bass u could only get from a sub. so it was either a sub system or HID lighting kit for my car and i decided to go with a sub system and finish off my stereo system. then imma move on to HID lighting kit.

so my final sub system i guess is

1 12" Image Dynamics IDQ - $200

alpine mrd m650 - $170

audioenhancer box - $100

total $470 - hope this investment turn out as good as my component system investment

is there such thing as a distribution block that takes in a 4 gauge power wire and puts out 2x 4 gauge power wire?

i think i dont have to upgrade my 4 gauge power wire since i am only putting out about 1000 watts rms. 400 from components, and 600 from sub. so i need a distribution block that could receive 4 gauge and output 2x 4 gauge. also i have a capacitor laying around my house should i install it also?

Do you know how many amps your alternator is? I have a 105 amp alternator and I'm potentially running slightly over 1200 wrms and i don't have any problems with dimming. I have not done the big 3 either (even though i probably should). Check into what alternator u have cause chances are u may not need the capacitor with 1000wrms.
