please recommend subwoofer system for under 400

sorry to be a noob, but what does that mean and they are the same price so which one should i get if i were to buy it?
I suggest reading the stickies on the subwoofer forum. Anyway, they are the voice coil configurations. Meaning at dual 2 ohms, you can run your amp at 1 ohm or 4 ohms. If you get the dual 4 sub you'd run it most likely at 2 ohms, but could do 8 also. Basic explanation.

X2 on the IDQ. I had a 15" Kicker L7 off of about 1000 watts and switched to a 10" IDQ running off of 200 watts. I love the IDQ, the SQ is GREAT and I'm only throwing 200 watts at it and it get loud enough for me and hits all the lows. A 12 would be perfect for you =D

i did similar. I switched from 2 12" L5s w1000rms ported. to a 15" sealed with 500rms and i love it, although i am about to get another one.

does the sub have a nice bass to complement my components which are already very clear and loud?

very hard to choose now. too bad i dont have no where to listen to the subs.

should i only do the big 3 if my lights are dimming or should i just do it anyway? also what gauge wire is needed? i have 4 gauge running through my car is that enough?

1. Yes, both the L5 and the ID will get loud. The L5 is more geared towards SPL.

2. That is too bad. Makes it very hard to choose.

3. Do the big 3 anyway... better safe than sorry.

4. Depends on how long the wire runs are and how much total power the amps will be drawing. There is a great explanation about this in the Installation section of the forums.

I'd try to find a Xenon X600.1, personally.

Others to consider:

Infinity 611a

Kenwood KAC-X10D

Alpine MRP-M650

Hifonics BXi606D or BXi1206D

Kicker KX600.1

any suggestions on what box i should get with the IDQ?
If you dont know anyone that could build u a decent box, then i would take DejaWiz's advice and look into AudioEnhancers box's. I think they're boxes are about as good as u can buy prefab, especially for the price.

i probably go with the ported box, so i guess my system will be like this.......

1 12" Image Dynamics IDQ -200

one of the amps that dejawiz recommend - 200?

the ported box from sonix electronix - 100

500 bux
