please recommend a sub for me

Okay, I'm new here but I lurk a lot and did some reading and im not totally new to car audio.

Basically what I want to do is a single 12" sealed sub. This will be in the back of my 94 camaro so there isn't really enough room for a ported box. I already have a box that I made and it would give me about 2.5 cubes total so IMO a ported box is out of the question but I could be wrong. I don't know if I'm going to use my current box or build a new one.

I will be powering whichever sub I choose with a rockford fosgate p850.2 It will put out 850 watts rms briged but its only 4 ohm stable.

So I guess that leaves me needing a sub with dual 2 ohm voice coils that will sound good with 850 watts rms.

I looked up Audioque subs. How would the HDC312 sound sealed with that amp?

Honestly, im more into SPL over SQL but this will be a daily system so I won't be competing or anything. Sorry it was so lengthy. Thanks

I read some more..that amp won't be able to give the HDC3 12 as much power as it really needs. I am thinking about one of the AudioQue amps. the 1200 watt amp just to power one HDC312. Are their amps of good quality?

Then comes the main problem of not being able to go ported which is really disapointing to me. The box im going to use is like a 3d pentagon shape that fits into my trunk well. I don't know if it may be possible to port this or not.

budget? BTW you could fit a 12 inch ported box with 2.5 cu ft to work with. My image dynamics only take 1.9 cu ft but i cant speak for other subs

you should be able to get around 5cu ft before displacement easy

removed the plastic in the hatch area and used the huge storage area to add air space

my box is similar to a subthump box but it doesn't go all the way down into the well. If I need to build a new box I can.

Do you have pics of your box? Any place I can find some box designs for my car? thanks

as for budget, I mean I could afford some expensive stuff but I dont really want to spend THAT much. I really think I want one of those HDC3 12's I just don't know about my enclosure options in my car.

you should get a sub first before you think about the box.

i recommend an IDMAX v.3 12 inch in a ported box. i heard those the other day and it was AWESOME. It was also underpowered at 600 rms so 850 rms should sound even better. and i believe the ported box is around 2.5^3 ft tuned around 30 hz or so
