Also, skip all the wiring, hard wire it directly to the battery just long enough to see if the HU powers up properly. Of it does, HU = good, factory wiring = bad, if it doesn't, HU = bad and wiring = good.

Okay guys back with some news. I got a new tester the one i had was crappy and the wire wasnt long enough for me to find a good ground. I ripped the wring harness adaptor off so i could get to the stock power wires and tested from there. There is power, the only thing between that point and the head unit is the adaptor. This means that the adaptor is faulty and therefore my problem. Im going to grab a new adaptor on saturday and eerything should be in perfect working order. I appreciate all your help. NOW i gotta go buy new door speakers since bozo decided to rip the front and back speakers out. Oh yeah he cut the wires that lead to them so im gonna have to do surgery and crimp those as well. Im really starting to believe he never wanted there to be music in that car again haha. Again thanks to all of you for the help.

FINALLY my car has bass. The issue wasnt the harness adaptor itself. Because i have a volkswagen and these cars are german the install process is different. The is no ignition wire. So my unit was getting power it just didnt know to power on. The fix was very simple i just had to tap into my 12v power wire in the harness and wire the ingition wire in with that and boom she powered right up. i do have to take the faceplate off everytime im done listening to music but i planned on that anyways radio theft is pretty big around here. Thanks to all who gave their advice. Now on to door speakers =]
