Ok so my head unit isnt getting power my buddy pulled the radio out and the live wires touched. Im pretty good at installing head units however this on is beyond my knowledge. Im sure the wires touching caused a short. I just dont have a **** clue how to find where it is. Anyways i was wanted to ask all of you professionals what you would charge to diagnose/fix my problem. I plan on just taking it to a shop. Any info would help i would just like to know a ballpark estimate of how much it will set me back.

i checked all of the fuses. the head unit is an alpine cde-102 i had it in my old car so i know it works it was only in a vehicle for 3 weeks so its brand new. i just dont understand why i get no power to the head unit if theres no fuse popped. the cigarette light outlet doesnt work either.

everything electrical works in the car just the cigarette lighter outlet and the head unit power. all the research ive done says those two are linked in the same circuit or somthing. so if the outlet isnt getting power the power lead wouldnt either. i just dont get why ALL the fuses checked out to be good if those two things arent working. i know exactly what fuse is linked with them and its fine. im just really confused. could it be the aftermarket wiring harness adaptor failing?

Do you have a fuse tester? Just because it looks good doesnt mean it is good.

Check the wiring going to the fuse box. Could be corroded some where.
hmm thats a good idea. gonna be a pain in the *** the fuse box is in the footwell kind of hard to get to. ill give that a shot at day light i did check it out a little bit but not as much as i would like to. if that is the case im not gonna be able to fix it on my own ugh
