I've currently got 2 JL 12w1v2's in there PowerWedge box running off of a JL 300/2. It was nice @ first but I need more!!! I've came across a great deal for a brand new system consisting of 2 12w3v3's in a PowerWedge box running off of a new JL HD750/1. I'm concerned I wont be satisfied.... Maybe it won't be as big of a improvement as I expected?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif Could anyone please give me advice based on their experience or if anyone has this type of set up I'd be happy to hear how they feel about it. I've been dabbling for the past few years in the car audio world and now I plan to really take things seriously and get my shit straight about this sort of stuff. So any advice will be much appreciated!! Thanks to all

FYI, Please if you're gunna post things like JL is over-rated or your money can be better spent else where, DONT!!! I know I want JL and I know what my finacial limitations are, I dont need ppl to tell me that sort of BS! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

lol you say you are not satisfied with what you got, but you wont take anyones advice on upgrades because all you want is JL. and to answer ure question, no it wont be much of a improvement. you can save alot of money and still get something that sounds better. call JL and nuthugg together over the phone

jl is excellent no doubt about it. I have a 13tw5, its f'n awesome. "great deal for a brand new system" is relative though, what was the "great deal" anyway? I know you made it clear that you dont want to hear it, but like you said, you're a noob. I'm not saying dont get JL audio but dont be so close minded about it. JL only has so many options, if you want to make sure you're satisfied get some W6's. If you want to step out of your commercial JL little world browse around and consider alternate options. Nothing wrong with JL if the price is right.

X2.

JL is good, but there is other stuff out there for about the same price but will make you happy as well.

To those of you who helped, thanks. I will keep looking and see what I can find. I knew that once I said I'd only buy jl, everyone would be on my ***... lol. Im actually taking a liking to Mmats subs. They look sick!! Also macq32, how is that pdx1.1000? i was looking into getting one of those a while back! I just havent really heard anything good about Alpine amps... Anyone else got any suggestions on this JL setup, please let me know? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

The PDX is great, If I had to chose between a 1000/1 and the pdx I'd probably take the JL (if I had the space) but $280 for the PDX was wayyy too good to pass up. Excellent EXCELLENT amp, doesnt give you too much control as far as knobs though (which the JL will).

If you want some serious SQ i have a 13tw5 for sale, its remarkable how well it can blend music, its got some very nice sq bump to it as well. but if youre looking to shake the mirrors on the car behind you the W6 is great and will be more of that type of sub. Dont get me wrong though the 13tw5 is nicely loud and offers tremendous SQ.

Again, sorry to beat you with it, but we all know JL makes a good product, I dont think anyones denying it, but you are ruling out a lot of very worthy options by only looking at a certain brand.

IMHO you would be better off going with the TW5, W6, or W7 series than the W3 series if you want more output from a JL Audio sub. I am guessing that the 12w3v3 is a sealed PowerWedge, and although it can handle more power and push more air than what you had before, I still think you would be better off with a custom ported setup with the 12w3v3s over a drop-in JL Solution. You could always give the PowerWedge a try then go ported later on or sell it later on if you don't like it and go with a higher line.

Also, don't let these JL Audio haters get you down! They are just jealous because they can't afford it themselves OR mommy and daddy will only give them enough allowance to purchase Hifonics gear! My point is you run what you want to run versus letting the ca.com internet bandwagon product of the week influence your decision!

hmmm....why pay so much for jl when there are better options at lower prices?

It all depends on what you mean by better for less. Besides, the OP said he wanted JL Audio and how long did it take for someone to start with the nuthugging comment?

OTOH, had the OP said he was going with Sundown, RE, Fi, AQ, etc... The ca.com collective would have been chiming in to cream all up in his thread!

The first paragraph was very good advice. The second paragraph is just idiotic.

I take it you are one of those who lives your life by the Termlab score? No offense, but a pair of 18s and four 5x7s doesn't exactly scream SQ to me!

The first paragraph was very good advice. The second paragraph is just idiotic the cold, hard truth.
There, fixed it for you;)

Gunz4me, that is exactly what I was thinking!!! I was going to get that powerwedge box cuz last time someone made me a box.... It was the worst piece of audio equipment I've ever owned. I just don't know anyone professional that makes boxes... I stick with JL because yes they do have great quality but mainly because i've never had any problems with them. I work hard for my money and I do my research so I get something i'll be happy with. I appreciate the help!!

If anyone from the chicago land area makes boxes, make them RIGHT and can carpet them to look professional. Please contact me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Actually, I would go one step further than just a box builder. I would also look for someone who has worked with your particular year/model of truck too! Building a ported enclosure to the vehicle in question makes more of a difference than you think it does //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
