Ok here's the deal.

Got two jl Audio w4's 2ohm dvc 15 in Woofers

1 r.f. 801s amp

one 2 chamber box with 2.25ft^3 per chamber

the woofers dvc's are wired in a series. the woofers are wired stereo.

Numbers: the woofers are supposed to be running 4ohm stereo at 200 watts rms

by my calcs.

the box and power are the recommended specs for the company.

anyway the problem is this:

The woofers are not very loud. can barley hear them. NO vibration in air. they make a sort of popping sound with a hard note.

Can I fix this by modifing the box??

or is this something else??

I am not 100% certain what you mean by the woofers are wired in stereo to the amp, I am assuming you mean they are not bridged. This means that if you are running the coils in series, your amp is seeing an 8 ohm load, not 4. This means your subs are getting bupkiss for power. You need to wire them differently. Wire them in a series/parallel configuration. Wire the coils in series, like you did, but wire the woofers together in parallel. Then, wire the subs to the amp in "stereo". That will give you a 2 ohm load and you should be bumping in no time. Actually, now that I think about it, your subs are almost wired properly. All you have to do to remedy the situation is run wire from the positive terminal on either coil from one sub, to the positive terminal on either coil on the other sub. Do the same thing with the negative. If you keep your subs wired the way they are, but add those two wires, you will be running them at 2 ohms and giving them 200 watts of pure unadulterated rockford power, and then you be bumpin.

finally have to be an *** to get a response. thanks, no really thanks. I have gotten about four replys and the start of a discussion in the wiring section. I corrected my self on the wording with the voice coils. please look there.

thanks (for real this time)
