Please Help

Okay yesterday i replaced all my stock speakers, amp and headunit. I am using a deh-p590ib deck, 6.5" PG rsd component system, kicker ssmb6 midbass, and a pdx-4.100 amp. The sub is a tc-9 getting 850rms. I didnt have time to set the gain with a multimeter before it got dark... i just finished at dusk. Anyways i have the gain on halfway... preamp output is 4v i think so if anything id think halfway is overdoing it... its only a 3rd the way on my mono amp for the tc-9 and is set with a multimeter for that so i dont think the gains are too low. The HPF for the components is 80hz, and the lpf for the midbass is 400hz. Anyways when i turned it on, it the speakers and midbass were extremely quiet... like you can barely hear them with the sub turned on. With the sub turned off it was still a little bit quieter than the stock system. I am using the kicker 1/0 wiring kit and have a solid ground. Can someone please give me some ideas as to whats going on? I was using the radio so i know thats usually quieter than CD's but it was still very quiet. The pdx-4.100 is 100w rms per channel.

Any suggestions? Thanks a lot.

well i turned my gain 2/3 up to the mark that said .5v (my preamps are 4v!), set the sub to -5, set the equalizer on the "vocal" setting, and the sub still drowns out the speakers.

Anyone have any more advice?

check your rca's. mine did that, like when the sub hit, it would pull the power from the inside. it was me having 2 y's on my rca's to split it for 2 amps. (older HU). fixed that and all was good.

uh, amps won't pull signals from split RCAs away from other amps. That's just ridiculous.

To the OP: don't worry about the position of the gain knobs. Set everything on your HU to flat. Don't use any EQs when setting your gains, especially factory presets, ick.

Turn your gains all down. Turn your HU to 3/4 volume (or until it's already loud enough with the gains at min and the HU

Where are the Kickers installed? Why do you have a midbass the same size as the mid in your comp set?

I don't know why that guy told you to raise your HPF on the comp set, 80 is plenty high. Unless you want to keep the midbass out of the comps, but they are known for their good midbass so I don't know why you'd want to.

turn your gains down more... ALOT more...

the gain needs to go higher with lower input voltages. with a HU rated at 4v, the gains should stay pretty low...
