please help, very confused

i recently hooked up my 7840 alpine in my new 96 delta 88 which i had in my cutsupreme and it worked fine. but when i hooked it up in the delta if i dont have the car headligths on the head unit says INTRUPT on teh screeen and wont work. so if i turn the key back to accessories it wont work. im really confused so please help me out on this one. thanks (i know this is more of a question for the head units section but no ones ever in there)

It sounds like you got either your constant battery or your switched power connected to the instrument panel lights that was in the other deck and that is why it only works with the headlights on. so i probly jsut have some wires going to the wrong ones then basically?

Yes, at least thats what it sounds like to me. I would take another look at the wires and run the one that says +battery to a constant 12 volt source somewhere like the fuse box, or you can do like me and try to get the most out of deck and run this directly through the firewall to the battery with about a 10-12 guage wire.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Then i would take the wire that says acc or swithced power and run it to a wire that you know turns on when the key is ether on or on acc. I ran mine to a swithed acc wire on the fusebox, they are there but you will have to use a multimeter to check which one comes on when the key is on.
