Please HELP a NEWBIE with a new STANG!

I just bought a new Mustang with the standard Mach system in it. I want to add a little bump in the trunk...if you know what I mean. I'm looking to spend no more than $450. I would prefer to have a balance between power and sound quality. Bass is the most important aspect though. Any recommendations are helpful. Many thanks.

So far, I've found extremely competitive prices for gothic series power acoustik amps (e.g. the OV2-1200). Is this amp worthwhile? What subs would work with it or another amp meeting my needs? How many watts should I shoot for the subs using a 1200W amp?

any subwoofer that is Dual 4 should work considering you can wire it at 2 Ohms if you are just looking for 1 sub. the sub that comes to mind with that configuration is the 12" or 15" RE SE.... Dual 4, 1200W Max, 600RMS... not too shabby on price either, and everyone on this forum has a hard-on for RE's.

As I'm new to this, could you please clarify what "dual 4" means...as well as the other classifications I should avoid.

it means the sub has 2 voice coils that are 4 ohms each

the abilty / flexabilty to wire one sub into lower ohm loads to get more power from your amp

for example a a 4ohm DVC sub can be wired to stay @ 4 ohms or wired to be 2 ohms

two DVC 4 ohm subs can be wired to stay @ 4ohms or 1 ohm

Would having a dual 4 subs be important if I was running two 10's or 12's off a single 2 channel amp?...or is this primarily an issue for running a mono sub?

i always say get dual voice coils in case you upgrade amps later depending on the amp you will want to bridge it if you can and it will be mono then

just cause you can wire @ 1 ohm doesn;t mean you have to they will be just as happy @ 4
