Please Evaluate My Future System.

Hey, I’m going to be building my first system over the next few months. I want to have a very high SQ system. SQ is key.

Front Components: Infinity Kappa 60.5CS or Alpine type-r

Rear Speakers: I’m thinking just some mid bass fill type speakers, not too concerned.

Subs: 2 10” Edk’s single voice coil wired for a 2 ohm load and Sealed of course(I’ve heard great things about them and I know that they don’t come out for a while)

Cabin Amp: US Acoustics USX4065. Or would it be worth spending $50 and getting the USX4085? I personally don’t think I will need the extra watts. Would I notice any better SQ with the extra watts?

Sub Amp: US Acoustics USX800D

I already have an Alpine CDA-7894 Head Unit.

The car is a 98 saab 900 hatchback if that makes any difference.

I was curious if I would be better off getting one 12” sub or a one better 10” sub? Remember SQ is king for me. Also, suggestions on the front components would be appreciated. Let me know what you think. Any suggestions would be valued. Thanks!

That sounds nice... i would spend the extra bucks on the amp....

If i were you id' get one 12 and just put it in about 3 cubes maybe.

You could go for just one 12, but for SQ id definitely say go for a sealed box...3 cubes seems a little large for a sealed box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

So it would sound better with one 12" Shiva or something sealed instead of getting 2 10" edk's sealed? What would you recommend for one 12” sub sealed? Great sound quality and under ~$280. I’ve heard great things about Shiva.

well im' not a box person ... do 2 cubes then.

i would go for a 12 EDK 2 cubes ported.

I thought shivas were single 8 ohms if so you would need two.

cubes : refers to how many cubic feet a speaker box is

boxes : speaker box, sub box, etc...

SQ : Sound Quality

Ohms : resistance to put it in a very simple term...

Yes sorry, shiva’s are 8ohm, wasn’t thinking. I don’t think I’ll need the power of 2 12” subs plus I’d like to save on space. How about this, One 12” ED O sealed? RMS is 500 watts. I would get the dual voice coil kind so that I could run at 2ohms. Still use the US Acoustics USX800D, which will produce 600 watts. Would this best for SQ in my setup?

the ED O isnt out yet, the K's and A's are on backorder so it will be awhile until you get either of them. The A's are supposed to be a pretty awesome sub too, might want to check into one of those. If you decide to go with a K, id throw it in a sealed box about 1 cube, maybe 1.5...you wont be disappointed. My 10 is running in about 0.7 cubes and its loving it.

I’m not sure if the O’s are out yet but I can wait. The 12” k’s are only 350 rms, so would it be best if I stepped down to the US Acoustics USX600D? It produces 375 watts at 2 ohms. The only thing is it does not have a subsonic filter, which I would like to have. What would the advantage be going for the 12" K over the 12" O as far as SQ? Besides price of course.
