Which gives you 5.7 cubes before displacement.

For your port its going to be:

15 inches high, 3 inches wide, 16 inches long which will tune your box to 32hz.

what is everyones opinion on this box for 2 12" '05 type r's? tuned ok for a daily driver? only have one question though.....if the box extior height is 17" and the port is only 15" wont that leave a gap?

im almost done.....i have 1 cut left and it was part of the port...i got the dimensions from mr. loki, but i thought he knew what he was doing....ill just scrap that and start over......do you know what the correct dimensions would be? tuned to 34-35hz? thanks for all the help.

so i came up with......

net volume: 3.5^ft3

tuning frequency: 35Hz

port width: 3.5"

port area: 54.25" squared

port length: 28"

external dimensions: 38" w x 17" h x 19.75 d

that look right?

The manual recommends 1.3 ft^3 net per sub tuned to 36 Hz ...http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/Manuals/500/500SWR1242.PDF

That enclosure is ~5 ft^3 net tuned to ~33.5 Hz (if you made the port 15.5" tall ... if you made the port 15" tall, I'd just start over) ... You can expect a large peak in the mid-30s and, most likely, poor transient response ...
