Spent the other day in 90 degree heat removing, cleaning, and painting my rims. Yes I am too poor to afford new rims before it gets said. More monies for audioz anywayz. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif

First Coat:

They look glossy upon applying but after they dry:

Overall I think it turned out well for $12 in spray and 3 hours of labor. They aren't perfect by any means (pealed around the lip of the rim due to bad taping of the tire) but it definitely can't be noticed unless you are deliberately staring at wheel from a couple inches. Also it was my first time ever spraying anything with a rattle can so I feel accomplished.

Also gave a demo today for a guy who was buying my old amp and this happened //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

Tried applying super glue to the hinge but I couldn't realign the glass with the piece so it makes full contact. I will be taking it to the dealer and seeing what I can get it fixed for.

I've been thinking about doing this on my car... But it'd probably look retarded with stock black rims //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

And that window situation *****. But it showed the buyer you don't mess around, at least... lol

Electrical tape works better for masking around the outer edge on wheels and other things that aren't straight lines. I want to plasti dip my whole truck...but have a lot of body work to do first and its too hot to mess with at the moment! Nice job though! Turned out good.

wouldn't electrical tape give adhesive residue especially in this heat? I wouldn't want that.

maybe try with a small flat head at an angle and run it around the outside of the lip before pulling the tape off.

Nice back window trick. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I wouldn't think there would be much residue, if any. I guess its possible if you're working out in the heat though.

It looks nice //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Thanks. I've never sweat so much in my life. I couldn't bend over to spray the wheels without a waterfall of sweat pouring off me. I had a dedicated head towel. I also went through 4 bottles of water, 2 gatorades, a powerade, and a bottle of lipton tea.

Did mine too. Done in hours with the wheels still on the truck. Gave it that whole new appearance. Pretty happy for $9 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

This was also before we pulled the tape off the center cap and lugs.
What truck? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/sneaky.gif.7189749b3a3f769e8815b47e8ae87f88.gif
