Pioneer DEH P9400BH and bluetooth streaming question

This is my first aftermarket head unit in what seems like forever. I installed the unit without issue in my 05 tC RS1 and I have a couple of questions.

Basically, since my knowledge is limited, I don't know if what I am going to ask is normal or not.

When I stream music using my Galaxy S2, the display on the HU doesn't show song info or anything. I'm not talking Pandora, but stored mp3's on the phone. Is this normal? I am using Google Play Music as my player. Also of note, if I play mp3's from the usb connection from a flash drive, I get song information of the currently selected tune. And if I send or receive calls, it shows up on the HU display as well.

Also, does anyone else think that finding HD radio channels is a tad cumbersome? I mean, yeah, I just adjust the lever up or down to change to HD2 or HD3, but is there a scan for HD only selection anywhere? If there is, I just can't seem to find it!

Any help for this noob would surely be appreciated!

If you read pioneers manual it will tell you that streaming via droid will not display info, only time elapsed. Regardless of what or where you are streaming.

As for the HD radio scanning, i has no idea. Im sure its in the manual, but ive been planning on picking this exact unit up(9400) you like it????

LOVE the unit so far! It does everything! I was going to choose a Kenwood or this one and ended up going with it because it's menu system seemed much less clunky than did the Kenwood.

As for for HD radio channel selection, I guess I just haven't spent enough time with it yet, I only installed it yesterday!

ALSO, I just figured out the problem I asked about (BT): The HU does NOT do avrcp 1.3, only 1.0. Unless there is a firmware update (does that happen in the car stereo world?) I doubt we will ever gain that function.

Thanks for your replies.

But what does that mean exactly?

Oh. It means that it simply CAN'T receive and display song information via bluetooth. AVRCP 1.0, which this unit has, only allows for skipping a song.

AVRCP 1.3 allows the song info displayed. I don't know if a firmware update can fix that or if it's a hardware limitation...I can live with it.

But the manual does speak of a firmware update? If so then if may be possible, ide say its atleaste worth a call to pioneer to find out for sure //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

Also, page 47 or the 80prs manual states that its only 1.0 capable. So you're in the same boat. We should call Pio for our respective units and ask about firmware updates for this (like JoshC said).

I know it works for imtjnotu with his phone and a few other people, so i guess there running on the 1.0

Ahh, that must be it then. It's like wifi for me, I know sometimes I will have a good solid dependable connection but if its hard wired in, I know it's solid and dependable all the time.
