Pioneer DEH-P80MP VS DEH-P8600MP

I used to have a p8mp and I loved it. It was the first Pioneer head unit I ever owned. It had some nice sound options but the crossover options were kind of weak and there was no T/A. The best thing about it was the 13band PEQ and of course its looks. If T/A and the ability to run active mean something to you then the 8600 is your friend.

Guessing "T/A" means Time Alignment? In that case, Time Alignment puts a delay on speakers so that you get the sound more aligned for your listening position. Since you sit in the driver's seat in the left of the car, the sound from the left front speaker typically reaches you "first". Time Alignment "fixes" that so the sound from all speakers arrives at roughly the same time.

Actually it only had a 3 band PEQ. That is what Pioneer's website claims anyway.

The 8600 did not have NETWORK mode, only STANDARD mode. The Premier 860 had the option of NETWORK or STANDARD.

To the thread starter: If you can find a 860 it is a much better deck than either of the 2 you've listed. If not then the 8600 is the better between the 2. 13 band graphic eq and TA.
